Snag delays draw of lots in DDA flats scheme

“A mock trial of the draw for the 2014 housing scheme was held on Sunday at Vikas Sadan, in the presence of judges and senior DDA officials. After the mock trial, officials from Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) observed that it took around 8-9 hours. This was because of the large number of applicants, multiple category of flats (more than four), multiple preferences for locations (34) and multiple reservations (SC, ST, persons with disability, ex-servicemen and war widow)… So, the draw has been postponed and will be announced soon. The process needs more time for optimisation of data,” the DDA said in a statement.

C-DAC, which had conducted the draw for DDA’s last housing scheme in 2010, has been roped in this time again for the event. The new scheme offers 25,034 flats — EWS, LIG, MIG, HIG, Janta flats and one-room apartments. The 22,627 one-bedroom apartments were a major draw for people this year. DDA claims they received over 10 lakh applications for it.
