A lot of our highest converting landing page templates are very simple ones and it’s actually true that very simple landing page templates tend to convert better. We’re not going to lie! However that’s not always the case. For example if you’re doing B to B sales and you want your page to rank better in search engines or if your focus is more on branding and perception than conversion, then you’re going to need more space to put your copy. Sometimes a longer form and more elegant pages can work better and that’s why we created the long form free white paper lead gen page. It’s great for when you need to show more information in order to get people to opt in and it’s really customizable.

Let me show you around the page design and why it works. The template starts with a high call to action at the top of the page which is proven to boost conversions this is really important because the page doesn’t appear too cluttered when someone first opens it. This way people won’t get too intimidated and leave. Also if someone is ready to opt in right away and doesn’t want to read the rest of the page, they can do so right up here at the top. For anyone who would like to read more information before they’re ready to opt in they can scroll below the fold and read additional copy. This page is formatted really nicely so that it’s not wasting any space but it doesn’t completely overwhelm visitors with information.

Once you scroll past this section, you get to another call to action at the bottom of the page. This makes it really handy for people who have read further down the page because they don’t have to scroll all the way back up to the top of the page to opt in. This whole page is very customizable. Each of these different sections can be hidden if you don’t need to use them. Let’s look at how to customize this page inside of LeadPages. Go to My.LeadPages.net and enter and enter the username and password. Once we’re in the member’s area, find the long form free white paper lead gen page and select use this template. Then select your market from the drop down.

For this example, I’m going to customize this page as if I were a B2B consultant giving away an eBook because this page is really useful in a B2B environment. Like with all of our pages you simply have to click on something to edit it. So I’ll start by clicking on the logo and I’ll replace it with own logo. Then I’ll customize the image of what’s being given away. This image helps people conceptualize what they’re getting. Then I’ll edit my button text. Below the opt-in button, I’m only going to have two sections of text. So I’ll just click the sentences on the side and then hide them or if I didn’t want to have this section at all, I could just click in the work area and hide it completely.

Notice how the page will resize automatically when this section is hidden. Now I’m going to change this image here to one of my eBook then I’ll update the bullet points here. Notice how these bullet points expand or contract dynamically as I add or subtract bullet points. Now at the bottom of this page, I’ve decided I don’t want to have this skyline graphic back here so I’ll just click it and then select hide. Then I’m going to update this call to action button. So I’ll click on it and then I’ll see my opt-in form integration settings. I need to select which email service provider this page will integrate with so I’ll select that from the drop down, and then select which list I’d like to add people to.

Now often if you’re using this page in a B2B context, you’d want to collect name, email and even phone number. So I’ll add these additional form fields and you’ll see they’re added to my LeadBox. We can also add form field for things like mailing addresses, positions or multiple choice options but these are just the ones that we’re showing here. I can also add an image of my lead magnet to the LeadBox to entice people to take that last step and submit the form. Finally, I need to set up the LeadMagnet Delivery system to deliver whatever LeadMagnet I’m giving away in exchange for someone’s email address. In this case, I’m giving away an eBook so I’ll select it from the drop down. Now when someone opts in for my list on this page, not only will they be added to my list but LeadPages will also handle sending out my lead magnet. This saves a lot of time and is our favorite way of delivering lead magnets here at LeadPages.

Now that I’m done customizing the page, I’ll just name the page and then save the page. Once I hit publish, the page is now live on the internet and LeadPages gives me a URL that I can use to immediately view the page.

So let’s go there and check out the page. Here’s the page we just created. It’s looking great and it’s mobile responsive so it will display correctly on any size screen. I’ll also check out the LeadMagnet Delivery system by opting in and submitting the form. When I go to my email, I can see that LeadPages has automatically sent this lead magnet to me using the lead magnet delivery system. Back in the publishing window, we have a few more options. You can publish the page to WordPress, publish the page to Facebook as a Facebook tab or you can download the file and put it on your own server.

If you’re not a LeadPages customer you will need to be a coder or hire a coder to make the downloadable template below work. For nonLeadPages customers, it’s a bit more difficult to set up. Here’s what you’ll need to do if you’re not a LeadPages customer. if you’re a developer, click on the link below and opt in to download this template and our LeadMagnet delivery system will deliver it to you. Modify the HTML and CSS using your coding skills or the coder you’ve hired, integrate the page with your autoresponder, WordPress etc., get your landing page code that you’ve generated and finally publish the page. So these are all the steps that you’ll need to take if you’re not a LeadPages customer. We’ve found that if you’re not a LeadPages customer, typically it will cost around $300 for a coder to customize and publish the page for you.

If you are a LeadPages customer, you can customize this page and have it live online within five minutes. In fact, you don’t need to download the template. It’s already in the member’s area where LeadPages handles everything for you including making the page mobile responsive, sending out a lead magnet, integrating the page with Facebook, WordPress and so on as well as integrating the pages with your autoresponder like AWeber, MailChimp, InfusionSoft, Office AutoPilot, etc. Plus if you use this page with LeadPages, you’ll get amazing analytics and if you’re a pro or an enterprise member, you’ll get the ability to run split tests on different variations of the page.
